SpaceX - Inspiration4 (stylized as INSPIRATI④N) will be a private mission that will take place with the SpaceX Crew Dragon in low Earth orbit operated by SpaceX on behalf of Jared Isaacman. The flight is scheduled to launch on September 15, 2021. With four crew members aboard Crew Dragon Resilience, Inspiration4 will be the first manned space mission to fly with only private citizens on board.
The mission's goal is to reach low Earth orbit, just above the ISS, for a stay of 4 days. The mission will therefore not dock at the ISS. The mission should use the Crew Dragon Resilience shuttle that successfully returned from the SpaceX Crew-1 mission. The shuttle used for this mission will be equipped with a panoramic glass dome in place of the International Docking System Standard (IDSS).
The mission is funded by Jared Isaacman, a 37-year-old founder entrepreneur of Shift Payments, with an estimated $ 1.5 billion worth, and co-organized by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. St. Jude's research goal is to fight childhood cancer and this is one of the most advanced centers in the world. Jared Isaacman stated that he will donate $ 100 million to St. Jude and that he hopes they can reach a total of $ 200 million with the help of those who follow the Inspiration4 mission.
